Help with computer not booting up
By: rekha singh | 14 Jun 2010 8:27 pm
I have a computer that is HP Pavillian that had ubuntu 9.04 with gnome running on it. This is what happened: I had to leave so I locked the screen and closed the laptop. I came back to it a couple of days later only to find that it was off. I tried to turn it back on but I get just past the POST test and the phenox tech screen with options comes up. Then nothing! It will not go further, I pushed both options that were displayed. and still nothing! Can anyone help me out, or is it just fried and need to toss the computer.
Thanks,
CommentsTry running a Linux version that boots from the CD-ROM drive. If it boots up, check and see if the partitions for your Ubuntu install are still functioning and readable.
I do not know what you mean by 'phenox tech screen with options', but have you tried running any/all of the 'options' offered?

I find that sometimes if i leave a thumb drive,or disk in mine, it has a habit of not booting properly.

Yeah sometimes I get that too. I reboot and it works out just fine but nothing this time.
