Scientific Data Architect consultant needed for the next generation data integration project in the Research Informatics and Automation within R&D. This consultant position will work closely with internal data architect, business capability management and senior scientists to analyze current state and envision future state of a scientific data integration repository capability for the Discovery Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology and Preclinical Candidate Optimization areas. This includes recommendation on roadmap of scientific data warehousing, data marts and federation capabilities for Chemistry, Genomics, Biology, Biologics, preclinical optimization, early clinical development and related functional areas within Research. Some examples of new enhancements include strengthening data integration for in vivo biology, large molecules, biomarkers, genomics medicine, business partner/CRO data and new external public data sources. This position will work closely with internal data architect, business capability management and senior scientists to understand data sources, analyze data integration requirements, define data architectures, prototype and develop proof of concepts. Candidate should have broad experience with dimensional and relational data modeling, data warehouse architecture, data mart, data base/SQL optimization and tuning. Ability to communicate clearly with various stakeholders and deliver sound recommendations and work effort estimation. Skill set requirements include: Eight or more years of experiences of delivering data integration systems in a data architect and technical leadership capacity. Ability to understand Biopharmaceutical research related business, scientific objectives and domain concepts. Experience of conducting clients-facing interviews to define/analyze data architecture and reporting requirements.
Experience playing a leadership role in enterprise-wide Data Quality Management, Data Resource Management, Data Stewardship and/or Data Administration programs at a large company.
Familiarity with process improvement frameworks such as the SEI CMMI
Master Data Hub architecture, data design and implementation
Data Quality Management and Data Architecture standardization
Metadata management, design and integration
Data Warehouse architecture, data design and implementation
ERP Data Architecture
Proven analytical skills to properly evaluate and interpret cross-functional data standardization requirements
Ability to resolve complex issues relate to enterprise wide data architecture concerns
Ability to architect data management enterprise solutions that are in alignment with strategic technology roadmap and emerging industry trends
Experience in Computer Systems Validation and Software Quality Assurance
Management style that exhibits high energy, strategic thinking, collaboration, direct communication and results orientation
Effective in matrix management and team building
Poise, maturity and communication skills necessary to represent the data architecture group internally and externally
Strong presentation, verbal and written communications skills
Data Architect to assist with the development of:
o A Data Management Process Framework and Capability Maturity Model
o Development of a quantitative maturity assessment/scoring model
o Execution of Data Management Capability Maturity Assessment for specific functional areas of the business
Provide leadership in defining an enterprise information architecture including:
o Data Architecture Process Standards
o Metadata Management Infrastructure Strategy
o Master Data Hub Technology Architecture
o Architectural Deliverables associated with Portfolio Management and SDLC
o Develops value-added, strategic solutions and sharing of best practices throughout the organization and the architectural community
o Collaborate with Global Shared Service Governance teams to institutionalize policy, standards and project related architectural deliverables.
o Facilitates agreement of Enterprise Architecture definitions with Global Shared Service partners
o Provides leadership and direction for the definition of an enterprise data architecture that supports the business information needs
o Collaborate across information management to identify opportunities to leverage common solutions and extend the adoption of standards.
o Leads market awareness around evolving industry standards (i.e. SPL, HL7, ICH) and existing industry initiatives
o Leads technical interests in collaboration with outside vendors.
o Communicate with team members and other stakeholders in a timely and effective manner in order to keep them apprised of data architecture status and relevant issues of interest to, and impact on, the clients and their business areas.
Technical qualifications will include:
Data Modeling
Physical database design and database tuning expertise
RDBMS skills
SQL and PL/SQL experience
Tool(s) proficiency such as ERWin, ETL (Informatica PowerCenter) , Data Profiling, Siperian Master Reference Manager (MRM)
